2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance in Quicksilver - New Car Prep, Full Hood & Bumper PPF, and Modesta BC-X & EGC Coatings
PROJECT DETAILS:
New car prep & polish, full hood & BUMPER PPF, & MODESTA BC-X & EGC COATINGS
Hey everyone! This Thursday we're back at it again with yet another Performance model from Tesla. This time, we had the pleasure of working on this 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance in the color Quicksilver - a steely, cool-toned gray that makes for a real head-turner. Now, just because we often get the same car models rolling in the shop from time to time, does not mean they get a one-size-fits-all treatment. Each vehicle is at a different stage in their lifespan, and each owner may drive or use their car a bit differently. At Superior Detailer, we anticipate this and custom-tailor our products and services according to the individual needs, goals, and budget of our clients - making for a personalized experience that meets their cars demands in the best possible way. Superior Detailer believes that quality cannot be rushed or mass-produced; instead it must be lovingly refined, honed, and adjusted through careful technique to fit the distinctive characteristics that make up a car's story. We honor that through our skilled, conscientious work, never relying on generic solutions. With that in mind, let's get into it!
This model in particular came in brand new and ready for starter protection, so we treated it to a new car preparation detail, applied paint protection film to the full hood and bumper, and coated the vehicle in Modesta's BC-X Paint Coating. We also applied Modesta's EGC to the front windshield and glass roof to provide additional protection.
Below is a brief summary of services provided:
- Preparation Wash
- Light Polish/Paint Correction
- Standard Paint Protection Film (PPF) installation
- Modesta BC-X Paint Coating application (body)
- Modesta Exterior Glass Coating (EGC) application (front windshield + glass roof)
PREPARATION WASH
Before any correction took place and coating or film was applied, we began with a meticulous multi-stage decontamination wash. This step is designed to strip away all the invisible contaminants from transit or handling that can cling to new paint.
Using a double-bucket hand wash method and a clay bar treatment, we prepped the entire exterior to ensure the surface is clean, smooth, and fully ready for correction and protection. This step is essential in creating a foundation where all other coatings and films that come after can be applied easily and look their absolute best.
LIGHT POLISH/PAINT CORRECTION
This might come as a surprise to you, but the paint on even brand-new vehicles straight from the dealership or factory are rarely in mint condition. This model came in gorgeous as ever, but upon closer inspection and under proper lighting revealed light swirl marks, fine scratches, and subtle imperfections on the clear coat. These aren’t uncommon; they’re usually the result of transport/delivery, random touching, or improper wipe-down techniques. That’s why light paint correction is a non-negotiable step before applying auto ceramic coating or PPF. Protecting a flawed finish only locks in those defects, making them a pain to remove later.
Using a precision-calibrated dual-action (DA) polisher paired with a light-cut polishing compound, we performed a careful two-stage polish across all painted surfaces. The first pass worked to gently level the clear coat, removing minor swirls, haze, and inconsistencies that distort light reflection. The second pass was focused on refining the finish to a crisp, deep gloss—amplifying the metallic quality in the paint color.
This step is where the “wow” factor begins. Polishing not only revives and enhances visual depth but also ensures the surface is perfectly smooth and contaminant-free. That clean, corrected surface creates the ideal bonding environment for both ceramic coatings and PPF—ensuring maximum adhesion, durability, and longevity of every protective layer that follows.
PPF STANDARD INSTALLATION - ARMOR WHERE IT MATTERS MOST
As a trusted PPF installer, we applied SunTek Paint Protection Film to the Model 3’s front bumper, headlights, and side mirrors—zones most vulnerable to rock chips, bug splatter, and debris. These areas often take the brunt of the impact with everyday driving, especially in a vehicle designed for quick acceleration where various things can fly past at a moment's notice. By wrapping these surfaces in high-performance, self-healing PPF, we gave this Tesla invisible armor with long-term durability that can withstand whatever decides to come its way. The gloss finish enhances the car’s aesthetic while delivering a stain-resistant layer that quietly does the hard work.
MODESTA BC-X PAINT COATING
Once the exposed zones were protected with PPF, we moved on to sealing in the rest of the vehicle with Modesta BC-X, a professional-grade auto ceramic coating known for its combination of gloss, durability, and hydrophobic performance. BC-X is a mid-range coating (right in between BC-08 and other more advanced coatings) engineered to enhance depth and clarity—perfect for the soft metallic undertones in Tesla’s Quicksilver paint. This is one of the best ceramic coatings for Tesla owners looking to upgrade shine while extending the lifespan of their finish. BC-X’s tight molecular structure resists etching, oxidation, and chemical fallout, creating a long-lasting shield that’s easier to maintain and a IS dream to look at.
Modesta EGC - Invisible CLARITY FOR GLASS & ROOF
We finished the project with Modesta’s Exterior Glass Coating (EGC) applied to both the front windshield and full glass roof. This carefully formulated silica resin treatment lays down a microscopic hydrophobic layer that repels water, grime, and bug splatter, dramatically improving visibility and making rainy drives exponentially safer.
For Tesla’s panoramic roof, EGC adds more than protection—it enhances the visual experience. Whether you’re watching a fiery sunset or stargazing through the expansive glass, the cleaner, clearer surface lets you enjoy the view without distraction or buildup. In colder seasons, the coating even helps reduce ice and snow adhesion.
THE FINAL RESULT
Refined and sharp, this model is a truly stunning example of luxury electric automotive design. Scroll down to see some final shots—we’re proud of how this one turned out!
