Light Polish, Full Body PPF, Windshield Protection, & Modesta Coatings

PREP WASH

Before any other work could begin, we gave this Porsche a thorough preparation wash. Proper preparation is one of the most important and often overlooked parts of a professional detailing process because coatings and PPF perform best when applied to a freshly cleaned surface. We first started with a double-bucket decontamination hand wash, followed by a clay bar treatment. The clay treatment removes bonded contaminants that the wash alone may sometimes miss, leaving the paint clean and smooth and dust/dirt free for the subsequent correction and protection stages. Together with the polish and paint correction, these steps ensure that all the films and coatings to follow seal in a flawless surface, and don't instead trap particles or highlight scratches.

Light Polish & Paint Correction

With the surface properly prepared, we performed a light machine polish to ever-so-gently refine the deep, sapphire blue paint and address minor surface imperfections. This is intended to merely enhance the clarity, gloss, and the overall uniform look of the exterior; it is not designed to aggressively strip the surface, as it isn't needed.

We used a dual-action machine polisher was used for controlled, even correction, and a light-cut polishing system to buff away small scratches and other defects.

This step is particularly valuable on a newer vehicle because even relatively fresh paint can pick up light water marks, scratches or other imperfections from transportation or light handling. It may not need as heavy a correction as say, an older vehicle with lots of wear and tear, but simple refinement and proper prevention can go a long way in helping the car not get to that point.



PAINT PROTECTION FILM & Window Protection

Once the paint was perfected, we installed customized PPF across the entire body of the vehicle, including high-impact areas. We meticulously wrapped the edges and curves wherever possible to create a cleaner, more seamless and streamlined appearance. The purpose of the film is to create a physical barrier between the paint and the everyday hazards of driving. Road debris, rocks, twigs, bugs, and other contaminants can all take their toll on a vehicle's finish, leaving unwanted scratches, marks, or stains. By protecting the paint before those imperfections occur, PPF helps preserve the original finish rather than relying on correction after damage has already happened. And when incidents do occur, the PPF minimizes the impact of said damage.

For a luxury vehicle like this one, this is especially important. High-performance cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed, and these additional precautions allow the driver to worry less when confronted with daily wear and tear, as they are easier to manage.

The exterior protection package continued onto the windshield with the installation of windshield protection film.

The windshield is one of the most exposed, delicate surfaces on any vehicle, constantly encountering various objects and environmental contamination. Adding a dedicated protective film helps provide another layer of defense in a particularly vulnerable area, while complementing the protection already installed on the painted surfaces.

MODESTA BC-06 & BC-X

The wheels and brake calipers then received a wheels-off application of Modesta BC-06, a high-heat-resistant durable glass coating designed specifically for surfaces that see a lot of friction. BC-06 forms a tightly-packed molecular structure when it reacts with the painted surface, creating a hard protective layer. Its resistance to temperatures upwards of 1,300 degrees Celsius makes it particularly well-suited to wheels and calipers, which tend to generate intense heat and accumulate a lot of dust and dirt. Another day-to-day advantage is maintenance. Brake dust can be stubborn and corrosive, causing premature wear on critical wheel components... but the coating makes those areas significantly easier to clean, helping the wheels and calipers stay free of debris and grime with less effort.

To further enhance and protect the paint, we applied Modesta BC-X paint coating to the body. Within Modesta's array of different coatings, BC-X in particular acts as a strong balance of performance, appearance, and value - it is more premium and protective than BC-08, but less pricey than Modesta's other luxury coatings. Its hydrophobic characteristics help water and contaminants bead and release from the surface more readily, reducing the amount of grime and water stains that remain stuck to the paint and making washing at home easier. For a vehicle that will be driven regularly or spend any amount of time outside, this product provides the ideal balance of protection while also being cost effective. Lastly, the coating adds a wet, glass-like shine that leaves cars dressed to the nines... so not only does the coating have a practical purpose, but it amps up the aesthetic of the vehicle, too.



Modesta EGC

The final stage of the protection package extended to the Porsche's exterior glass windows, and we did so with Modesta's Exterior Glass Coating. We applied this product to the two side windows as well as the rear windshield/sunroof area. The coating adds a water-repelling protective layer engineered to help water and contaminants release or wipe away from the glass more easily, reducing the tendency for environmental contaminants, fog, and grime to adhere to the glass and build up there. Not only is this something that significantly aids in maintenance, but it provides several safety benefits for the driver as well! A clearer windshield/windows that can repel water faster and more effectively greatly increases a driver's visibility, allowing them to make quicker and safer decisions while out on the road.

By incorporating Modesta's Exterior Glass Coating into the detail package, we were able to extend the same protection and ease of maintenance beyond the painted surfaces onto the windows.
