Light Polish, Full Body PPF, & Modesta Coatings

PREP WASH

To start off the detailing process, we began by giving this Touring a thorough preparation wash to deep clean the exterior and rinse away any lingering dirt, dust, or other particles that may have accumulated from light handling/use. The purpose of this is to completely eliminate debris (no matter how minor) that may interfere with the correction work, film application, and coating process. Starting with a clean, smooth canvas guarantees that the film and coatings (which are intended to highlight and enhance the condition of the car's paint surface) don't unintentionally amplify a dirty or bumpy, uneven exterior. Our preparation process included a double-bucket decontamination hand wash, followed by a clay bar treatment to safely remove bonded or more stubborn contaminants.

LIGHT POLISH & PAINT CORRECTION

Once the vehicle was clean, we went in with a light paint correction to ever-so-slightly refine the paint, going in with a machine polisher to carefully buff out light scratches, swirl marks, and other areas in need of attention. This steps allows us to make the finish of the vehicle scratch-free and less cloudy, making the paint more clear, glossy, and radiant even before all the extra services to follow.

FULL-BODY PPF

With the paint properly corrected, we moved on to a customized full-body paint protection film (PPF) installation. Every inch of this car was covered for overall, maximum protection. We also wrapped the edges for a more fluid, undetectable finish. PPF provides a crucial physical barrier between the bare surface of the car and the everyday hazards you encounter on the road, including:

• Road debris (tire pieces, trash, etc.)
• Insects or dead animals
• Rocks and twigs
• Other abrasive objects that may cause scratches, dents, or chips

This layer is intended to absorb impact if something flies at your vehicle, and provides better defense than just the plain exterior by itself. This is especially important for a performance car going at high speeds that may feel the effects of impact more. It's also just good protection to have in general for casual, everyday driving.

MODESTA BC-X & BC-06

After the PPF was installed, we topped off the body of the vehicle with Modesta's BC-X coating. Above you can see the coating being cured via heat lamp. This is a medium-tier coating that still provides the premium protection and look/feel every luxury car owner desires, while also being relatively more affordable than other options on the market. There are also several benefits to this "Goldilocks" product, many of which include:

1. Increased clarity and shine
2. Effective water repellency
3. Easier maintenance/cleaning

This is also an excellent all-around coating for most vehicles, whether it's more casual, luxury, or takes more of a beating from the outdoors and high-performance activities. It's a good option to consider when you want both value and quality rolled into one. Last but certainly not least, it gives any vehicle that quintessential glassy, mirror-like look. This product not only provides a practical purpose, but highly elevates the look of your car as well.

The wheels and calipers received their own dedicated protection with Modesta's BC-06 High Heat-Resistant Hard Glass Coating, which we installed wheels-off for better access to a hard to reach area and complete coverage. Unlike a conventional exterior paint coating, BC-06 is specifically engineered for areas exposed to extreme temperatures and heavy contamination. This product chemically reacts with the surface to form a tightly packed, hard glass-like protective layer, and with heat resistance up to 1,300°C, it is more than capable of handling the high temperatures associated with intense speed and hard, last-minute braking. It also helps resist staining from brake dust and contaminants from the road that may get stuck in all the tight, hidden grooves of that area, and makes it a lot easier to clean as well. And like BC-06, it significantly improves the appearance of the wheels.

For vehicles like this Porsche, wheel protection is paramount. Brake dust and other debris can quickly accumulate and stick to hot wheel surfaces, making neglected wheels increasingly difficult to maintain or not perform as well. BC-06 helps address that problem by adding durable protection to heavily-worn components and making them far simpler to take care of and keep clean.
