Hey Superior Detailer fam! We've had the pleasure of working with a lot of incredible Porsches at the shop recently, and we're stoked to share them with all of you! As you may know, we specialize in Porsche car care, so if you're interested in learning more or have one you'd like to bring in to our shop, click here.

Each one of the Porsches in this series has brought its own unique flare, along with different detailing needs. And today, we wanted to highlight this gorgeous 2021 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 in Miami Blue. While stunning already, we wanted to give this car a thorough paint correction and full protection package to really make that mesmerizing aqua blue shine, as well as provide extra coverage for the wheels and high impact zones. Keep reading for a full breakdown of the process!

Overview of services:

PREP WASH

We started off with a preparation wash to give this Porsche a deep clean and remove any lingering, stuck-on dirt and debris. To prep for this, we used Aenso Primeuse, a concentrated degreasing product designed to help break down any stubborn grime or heavy contamination, just to prevent any harsh scrubbing in the wash stage. We then used a double-bucket handwash method to gently wash away grime, being careful to avoid scratching the surface in the process. After, we performed a clay bar treatment to remove the peskier embedded contaminants that remained, and are hard to remove with washing alone. Even vehicles that have been freshly washed oftentimes still have particles deep within the paint, not just on top. From here, this gave us the ideal foundation to begin paint correction and the coating process.

LEVEL 2 PAINT CORRECTION

Once the surface of the vehicle was fully prepped, we restored the paint to its former glory with a Level 2 Paint Correction. This is a two-stage polishing process intended to buff away light scratches, swirls, and oxidation - in turn restoring clarity and making the finish super glossy and lustrous. The first polishing stage used a moderate-cut compound to eliminate the majority of imperfections, making the paint surface significantly clearer.

Once those defects were removed, we refined the finish with a lighter polish that further enhanced the glossiness and overall reflectivity when light and shadow flash against the vehicle. Together, these two polishing methods created in incredibly smooth and clear surface, before any protective coating was even applied.

Ceramic coatings will place a spotlight on the condition of the paint, so correcting the finish underneath beforehand ensures you’re not locking in visible blemishes or defects and exacerbating them. Check out the before and after images above to see what a true difference a proper paint correction makes!

TRACK PACK PPF

After the paint correction, we set our sights on protecting many of the high-impact zones with our "Track Pack" Paint Protection Film. We covered the following areas:

  • Front bumper
  • Full hood
  • Full fenders
  • Headlights
  • Mirrors
  • Rocker Panels
  • A-pillars
  • Partial roof
  • Rear splash zones
  • Fog lights

These areas in particular are most likely to feel the brunt of damage, like rock chips, road debris, and other wear and tear - making it especially important to protect these exposed parts. We carefully and precisely wrapped the film around every edge and curve to not only provide better protection, but to make the end result more seamless and fluid. This PPF will serve as a protective barrier that absorbs much of the impact from things that may damage the exterior of the vehicle. This service is an excellent investment for those who have high performance cars or put them through intense activity.

Modesta BC-08

We then coated the entire body of this Porsche in Modesta's BC-08 Neosillica Matrix Coating, which provides a thick, durable layer that delivers exceptional water repellency, even more gloss, resistance to environmental damage, and protection against washing and other minor wear and tear. This coating also makes it much easier to clean, as water, dirt, and grime slide right off.

MODESTA BC-06

Next, we removed the wheels and applied Modesta's BC-06 High Heat-Resistant Glass Coating to the wheels and calipers. BC-06 creates an incredibly hard silica-based glass coating that’s heat resistant up to 1,300°C, making it perfectly suited for complex braking systems that see a lot of intense activity. The benefits include:

  • Extra protection from hot brake dust
  • Increased stain resistance
  • Easier wheel cleaning
  • Long-lasting protection under extreme temperatures.

This step helps the wheels stay protected under the most extreme conditions.

The END RESULT

After a full paint correction, premium PPF installation, and multiple Modesta coatings, this GT4 looks better than ever. More importantly, this GT4 is now equipped to handle whatever life throws at it with substantially better protection against contaminants, UV exposure and other environmental factors, and normal wear. In addition, we gave our client some of Modesta's M2 Blast, a maintenance spray designed to help care for Modesta coatings while outside of the shop. It refreshes and keeps things glossy, reinforces water resistance, and makes overall routine maintenance quick and easy between washes and trips to the shop. It’s a great way to keep the coating performing at its best while maintaining that freshly detailed appearance. It's also a good reminder to use specific care products and techniques that will help you get the most out of your luxury detail service beyond the initial application. While the PPF and coatings do the heavy lifting, it's just as important to factor maintenance into how well they work and how long they last.

If you like what you see or have been dreaming about a solid protection system for your luxury vehicle like the one shown here, we'd be honored to help your vision become reality. Click the link below for any questions, more information, or to book a service with us:
