At Superior Detailer we use Modesta BC-06 High-Heat Resistant Wheel and Caliper coatings to protect wheels and increase ease-of-maintenance. Modesta BC-06 pairs wonderfully with the Modesta BC-06 Top Coat, which is Modesta's hydrophobic Top Coat for BC-06 that makes the surface extremely hydrophobic and even more resistant to damage.
Below we list some benefits of applying a ceramic coating to wheels and calipers.
Enhance your wheels' appearance and performance with ceramic coating—it's a smart choice for every car owner.
PREPARATION IS KEY!
With any ceramic coating application, preparation is key to ensuring the best bond, look, and performance. Before applying Modesta Ceramic Coatings for Wheels we thoroughly prepare the surfaces for application. This preparation includes detailing the surfaces through various methods based on condition, and even polishing the wheels if they have surface scratching or marring.
The photo below is a preparation step of steam cleaning the brake calipers before coating application.
True ceramic coatings are applied by trained professionals in controlled environments. We apply Modesta Ceramic Coatings for wheels and calipers in measured quantities via a professional spray gun. We ensure proper ventilation of the area while applying the coatings and use the required protection that includes gloves and respiratory masks.
The photo below shows owner, Karim Fritz, applying Modesta BC-06 Top Coat to the calipers on this Porsche Panamera. This top coat enhances the performance of BC-06 and makes the calipers extremely easy to clean.
Curing wheel coatings with Infrared (IR) lamps is a common practice in the automotive detailing industry. The process involves using IR lamps to accelerate the drying and curing of ceramic or other types of coatings applied to wheels and other vehicle surfaces. How it works and benefits:
1. Application of Coating: Before curing, a ceramic or similar coating is applied to the wheel's surface. This coating is designed to enhance protection, gloss, and ease of cleaning.
2. IR Lamp Setup: Infrared lamps are positioned strategically around the wheel or the coated area. These lamps emit infrared radiation, which generates heat when it contacts a surface. The heat accelerates the curing process.
3. Curing Process: The IR lamps are turned on, and they emit a controlled amount of heat. This heat helps in evaporating the solvents and accelerates the cross-linking or polymerization of the coating, making it harden and bond to the surface.
4. Temperature Control: Temperature is carefully controlled during the curing process to ensure that it remains within the recommended range for the specific coating being used. Different coatings may require slightly different curing temperatures.
Benefits of Curing Wheel Coatings with IR Lamps:
1. Time Efficiency: IR curing significantly reduces the curing time compared to natural drying. This is particularly advantageous for professionals who need to complete multiple coatings in a short period.
2. Uniform Coverage: IR lamps provide even heat distribution, ensuring that the coating cures uniformly across the entire surface of the wheel. This helps prevent streaks or uneven spots in the finish.
3. Enhanced Durability: Properly cured coatings tend to be more durable and long-lasting. The accelerated curing process allows the coating to form a strong bond with the wheel's surface.
4. Energy Efficiency: IR lamps are energy-efficient and cost-effective, making them a preferred choice for businesses and detailing professionals.
5. Reduced Dust and Contaminant Exposure: Faster curing means less time for dust, debris, or contaminants to settle on the coating's surface, resulting in a cleaner and smoother finish.
6. **Consistent Results:** The controlled environment of IR curing ensures consistent results, reducing the likelihood of errors or imperfections in the final appearance.
7. **Versatility:** IR lamps can be adjusted to accommodate different coatings and substrates, making them versatile tools in the automotive detailing process.
8. Safe for Most Surfaces: IR lamps are generally safe for most wheel materials, including alloy, steel, and even some types of carbon fiber wheels. However, it's essential to follow manufacturer recommendations and guidelines.
Using IR lamps to cure wheel coatings is a practical and efficient method that offers numerous benefits in terms of time savings, coating durability, and achieving a consistent and high-quality finish.

The environment in which we work has a huge affect on the quality of work produced. For us, this means having two separate climate-controlled spaces to accommodate for spikes in heat and humidity. It means separating our high-end detailing services to prevent contamination in film and coating applications. Our Downtown Orlando studio is 5,600 sq. ft. of air conditioned space with 2,500 sq. ft. dedicated to clean PPF and coating applications.
We have an indoor wash bay with warm and deionized water. We utilize Rupes machines, LED overhead lighting, and Scangrip/LED portable lighting. We have a 4-post lift, scissor lift, and QuickJacks portable car lifts. Our spaces are separately outfitted with right LED lighting for the specific work being performed. We have CCTV security cameras inside and out, with 24-hr armed on-property security monitoring.
